What does the assessment process involve?
The assessment process includes gathering of information from a variety of sources, including a review of available records, clinical interview, direct testing session(s), and scoring and interpreting of assessment data (including direct test administration and additional rating scales or questionnaires). Sometimes, more information is needed, such as an observation at your child’s school or questionnaires completed by other important people in your life. After the assessment is completed, an evaluation report is written and provided to you. A feedback session is provided to clients and/or families regarding clinical findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations. In some situations feedback may be provided on the same day of the testing, and in other situations a feedback session is scheduled separately.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance. Insurance companies can place limits on various aspects of the assessment, including the process involved and the amount of time they will allow for a psychological evaluation, which may be incompatible with our goals. For this reason, our assessments are private-pay only. Dr. Carson can provide you with a superbill outlining the services provided and the amount you have paid, which you can give to your insurance company. Your insurance company may or may not provide you with reimbursement, and you should be prepared to pay for the full cost of the assessment out of pocket.
What is the cost of a psychological evaluation?
The cost of an assessment is $250 per hour. A good faith estimate is offered and reviewed with you prior to the start of the testing to prepare you for the costs range expected for your specific clinical needs.
Will my results be shared with anyone else?
Our assessments are confidential and are only shared with our clients and their legal guardians (if applicable). They will not be shared with anyone else without your written permission. Because we do not take insurance, the psychological evaluation report will be provided only to you, and it is your decision whether you would like to share the results or report with anyone else.
